[News] Bashings forces forum to shut down

The online forum that was created by Seattle Glory Presbyterian Church which Jaebeom and his family has been attending has been shut down. The forum was originally set up to connect Jae-Bum with his fans around the globe. But on the Church's website, a message writes " The forum, 'To JaeBum' will be closed down permanantly" on 27th September.

The Church also stated that "This is the space where fans can write their messages to JaeBum, but bashes and bad comments found their way to this forum. With that, we have closed down the forum." The church itself has been the source for fans getting their letters and presents across to JaeBum in Seattle. With Bashing's and negative comments making it to America, I'd wonder if a comeback for Jaebeom into 2PM or Korea is actually possible.

[News] Wonder Girls Yoo-Bin racist?

Well actually no. But it appears that someone is using Wonder Girls member Yoo-Bin's profile to spread the hate against the victims in the recent Filipino floods. The anonymous user looks to have created a Twitter account to spread the racist remarks. Wonder Girls fan club 'Wonderful' are furious with this incident, especially the fact that some people believe that the account is actually authentic and the group is responsible for the cruel messages. To me it looks like a job from an anti-fan that just went too far.

[News] Netizens and the entertainment industry

The public likes to call them Netizens (personal opinion 'idiots'). They are the most feared group of people in the entertainment industry. If you are a celebrity, sportsman, politician or anyone that make the news, you must be careful of your actions, because in a way they can either damage or potentially end your career. When controversy stirs, the topic becomes a big issue.


Back in June netizens had a major issue with the cover art of SNSD’s new mini-album. The problem originated with the airplane featured on the album art, which resembles the Japanese “type zero” aircraft that were used by suicide bombers (Kamikaze) during World War II. And if that wasn’t enough complaints later turned to the group members are wearing, which some say resemble Nazi medals. As a result the release date of the album has been pushed back a few days later while SM re-work the album art.

It is normal that many Koreans will feel offensive from the images, relating to the Japanese war crimes that had affected our families and countrymen. SM Entertainment did the right thing by re-working the album art. But in my opinion, netizens went too far by referring the girl group as "War Crimes Shi-Dae" and not So-Nyeo (Girls) Shi-Dae (Generation). Netizens just seem to blow everything out of proportion by letting their feelings win over the head.

I believe the Internet provides too much power for netizens. Referring back to 2PM's Jae-Bum past posts in MySpace page for his disregard for Koreans, netizens made it clear by demanding him to leave the group and Korea. It happened. A global movement was conducted by 2PM fans demanding Jae-Bum's return to the boy band. They even returned their brought albums in front JYP headquarters. But this sort of public movement failed. For netizens, the Internet is a public space and a tool that enables them to find private information and use it for their own purposes. My final opinion is that these individuals who stirred these two controversy are either personal haters or some fan from another rival group in order to ruin the careers of these entertainers.
